Kevin Miescke

Dr. Kevin Miescke serves as Instructor of Horn and Music History at Eastern Illinois University,
Department of Music, and has been on the faculty since 2015. In addition to his instructional
responsibilities, Kevin performs regularly as a member of the Eastern Faculty Brass Quintet and
Faculty Woodwind Quintet. Kevin is also and active performer with orchestras around the
country, and has performed with the San Antonio Symphony, Champaign-Urbana Symphony
Orchestra, Peoria Symphony Orchestra, Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra, Round Rock
Symphony Orchestra, and other. As a member of the Skylark Horn Quartet, Kevin has enjoyed
premiering new works for the ensemble with the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra, and
appearing as soloists with the Columbus (Indiana) Symphony Orchestra and at The Frankenwald
Brass Festival, in Hoff, Germany. He is also excited to continue the mission of the ensemble,
working to commission and premier new works in creative settings for the horn quartet. Kevin is
also passionate about teaching chamber music to students of all ability levels, and as an artist-
faculty member with the Woodland Chamber Music Workshop, he gets to coach amateur and
semi-professional chamber groups every summer in Tofte, Minnesota.
Kevin has earned the degrees of Doctor of Music from Indiana University (2016), Master of
Music from the University of Texas at Austin (2012), and Bachelor of Music Education from the
University of Nevada, Reno (2009). Kevin grew up in Lake Tahoe, California and when he is
away from the horn enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife Rose, biking, hiking, camping,
skiing, and enjoying the sunshine.
